What Is diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy?

diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy is a revolutionary addition to women’s health care, developed by Sciton® as a means for women to improve their vaginal health and function. The diVa is a nonsurgical treatment that utilizes the same technology developed for Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser Resurfacing. diVa’s hybrid technology delivers two wavelengths simultaneously to resurface and regenerate vaginal tissue, as well as stimulate collagen. The body’s natural healing response replaces the damaged tissue with healthier stronger tissue. It is a quick 3-5 minute procedure and involves little to no downtime.

What Does diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy Treat?

diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy is ideal for those who have experienced decreased vaginal function due to childbirth, menopause, or other factors such as chemotherapy that may have caused thinning and drying of the vaginal walls. Common issues that can be improved with the innovative treatment include:

For women suffering from insufficient estrogen production by their ovaries, diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy can be an effective alternative to estrogen therapies like pills, creams, gels, and patches.

How Is diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy Performed?

diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy is a quick, three- to five-minute treatment that utilizes Hybrid Fractional Laser (HFL) technology to resurface the patient’s vaginal tissue. This is the first resurfacing laser of its kind using High Precision Automation (HPA) technology, which avoids manual positioning of the handpiece and provides higher accuracy, more uniform treatment, and improved safety. With its dual wavelength laser capabilities, treatment with diVa can be customized to the specific vaginal health concerns of each patient.

The diVa handpiece is covered with a single-use Strengthened Quartz Dilator (SQD), which remains in place as the handpiece rotates down the vaginal canal. Since the dilator remains stationary throughout the duration of the treatment, the laser energy is sent through a new section of the quartz with every pulse. Patients typically experience mild pressure with minimal discomfort throughout the short procedure. As a result, no anesthesia is needed, but a topical anesthetic is applied for improved comfort. The vaginal opening may feel more sensitive for certain patients.

What Can I Expect in diVa Treatment Recovery?

Patients can return to their normal daily activities immediately after treatment. They may experience minimal cramping and spotting. Nothing should be introduced vaginally for 48 hours.

One to three diVa treatment sessions spaced four weeks apart are typically recommended to achieve optimal results. For long-lasting results, follow-up treatments can be performed once every six to 12 months.
