Welcome to the first entry in our three-part blog series on IPL Laser Skin Treatment. In it, Dr. Jodie Reinertson discusses the advantages of using IPL on common skin conditions including brown spots, rosacea, and acne.
Many of my patients come to me with concerns about hyperpigmentation, age spots, and other skin discolorations that can affect their wellbeing. Sun damage and genetic predilection can often cause signs of aging in individuals as young as 20, and restoring the countenance to its previous youthfulness is a common goal. IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light therapy, is one method for achieving smoother, more even skin, and it is advantageous for several reasons.
I often recommend IPL therapy for treating rosacea, acne, age spots, fine wrinkles, and other conditions since the treatment offers substantial results with little to no downtime. Patients typically return to work the same day, and the process may take as little as an hour. Other benefits of IPL include:
- Improves skin texture
- Quick procedure
- Quick recovery
- Often highly effective
- Minimally invasive
I use the IPL-ELOS (electro-optical synergy) laser because it treats an extensive list of perceived skin imperfections relatively quickly and with few side effects. I may also recommend Cynosure Elite Aesthetic Laser to treat smaller veins and pigment spots, and employ other skin care products for individual symptoms. For patients desiring a more youthful, even skin tone, IPL photo-rejuvenation can be a good option for diminishing pigmentation, signs of aging, and acne.
Check back with our blog soon for the second and third entries in our blog series on IPL. The next installment will cover who makes a good candidate for the facial rejuvenation procedure.
